Overview
The Talents System introduces a new layer of long-term character progression, allowing players to customize and specialize their characters through unique Talent builds.
Unlike traditional progression systems, Talents are designed around meaningful choices. Players will gradually shape their own builds based on the paths they choose to pursue.
How It Works
The Talent System follows a simple progression loop:
Talent XP → Talent Shards → Talent Crystals → Talent Points → Talents
Players earn Talent XP while hunting. Once enough Talent XP has been accumulated, it is converted into Talent Shards. These Talent Shards can then be exchanged for Talent Crystals, which may be consumed to obtain Talent Points. Finally, Talent Points are invested into the Talent Tree to activate Talents and shape the player's build progression.
Obtaining Talent XP
Talent XP is obtained by defeating monsters within Hellbound.
Hellbound serves as the primary source of Talent progression and is the place where players will advance through the Talent System.
You can read more information about Hellbound here: Hellbound
Once your Talent XP reaches 100%, the progress bar resets and you receive a Talent Shard.
Talent Shards
Talent Shards are the primary resource obtained through Talent XP progression.
As you continue hunting and filling your Talent XP bar, you will continuously earn additional Talent Shards.
However, Talent Shard acquisition is limited on a weekly basis. Each character may only obtain a maximum number of Talent Shards during a given weekly period. Once this limit has been reached, additional Talent Shards cannot be obtained until the beginning of the next weekly period.
The weekly period resets every Monday at 00:00.
At the start of a new weekly period:
- Any unused Talent Shards are removed.
- The Talent Shard acquisition limit is fully reset.
- A new collection period begins.
Make sure to exchange all remaining Talent Shards before the weekly reset, as any unused Talent Shards will be permanently lost.
Talent Crystals
Talent Shards can be exchanged for Talent Crystal (Sealed) through a dedicated button located within the Talent Interface.
Performing this exchange requires:
- Talent Shards
- An Adena fee
Using Talent Crystals
Talent Crystal (Sealed) can be consumed by double-clicking the item.
When used, the Talent Crystal is removed and grants 1 Talent Point.
Talent Points are used to activate Talents within the Talent Tree and determine the player's current build progression.
Because Talent Crystals are converted directly into Talent Points, players are encouraged to regularly exchange their available Talent Shards before the weekly reset.
Talent States
Each Talent can exist in one of three states:
| State | Details |
|---|---|
| Locked | The default state. Locked Talents cannot be activated and provide no effects. |
| Unlocked | Unlocked Talents have been permanently acquired. They do not provide any effects by themselves, but they become eligible for activation. Once a Talent is unlocked, it remains unlocked forever. |
| Active | Active Talents provide their effects to your character. Activating a Talent requires an investment of Talent Points. Talents may later be deactivated through Refund Mode or Global Reset, allowing the invested Talent Crystals to be recovered. |
Talent Types
Talents are divided into three Types:
- Small
- Medium
- Big
Talent Grades
Talents are divided into four Grades:
- Grade I
- Grade II
- Grade III
- Grade IV
Grades are used to structure Talent progression and define the overall scaling of the system.
Talent Chains
Talents are organized into progression chains.
To activate a Talent, all prerequisite Talents leading to it must already be active.
Example: Talent A → Talent B → Talent C
Before activating Talent C:
- Talent B must be active.
- Talent A must be active.
Unlocking Talents
Unlocking a Talent requires an Adena fee.
The cost depends on the Talent Type:
| Type | Fee |
|---|---|
| Small | Adena x5,000,000 |
| Medium | Adena x25,000,000 |
| Big | Adena x150,000,000 |
Once unlocked:
- The Talent remains permanently unlocked.
- It never needs to be unlocked again.
- Unlocked Talents are shared between Main Class and Dual Class.
- Refund Mode and Global Reset do not affect its unlocked status.
The Talent must still be activated before its effects become available.
Activating Talents
Activating a Talent grants its effects and determines your current build.
Talent activation requires Talent Points.
The Talent Point cost of each Talent is defined by its Type and Grade.
The activation cost for each Talent is listed below:
| Talent | Grade I | Grade II | Grade III | Grade IV |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small Type | 1 | 2 | 4 | 10 |
| Medium Type | 2 | 4 | 8 | 20 |
| Big Type | 3 | 6 | 12 | 30 |
Type Progression Restriction
In addition to chain requirements, Big Talents have an additional progression restriction.A Big Talent cannot be activated unless the preceding Medium Talents in its progression path have already been activated.
This ensures that Big Talents always represent the culmination of a progression route rather than an isolated choice within the Talent Tree.
Grade Progression Restriction
Progression into higher Grades is gated by prior investment in lower Grades. To gain access to higher Grade Talents, players must invest a minimum number of Talent Points in Talents of the previous Grade:
- Grade II Talents require at least 30 Talent Points invested in Grade I Talents.
- Grade III Talents require at least 75 Talent Points invested in Grade II Talents.
- Grade IV Talents require at least 175 Talent Points invested in Grade III Talents.
Talent Point Cap
The total amount of Talent Points that can be obtained is limited.
Once a character reaches the maximum Talent Point cap, no additional Talent Points can be acquired.
The system is not designed for players to activate all available Talents.
Instead, players must make strategic decisions regarding which Talents to invest in, shaping a unique build based on their preferred playstyle.
This reinforces build diversity, encourages long-term planning, and ensures that each character represents a distinct progression path within the Talent Tree.
Refund Mode
Refund Mode allows players to deactivate individual Talents and recover the Talent Points invested in them.
When using Refund Mode:
- The Talent is deactivated and returns to the Unlocked state.
- The invested Talent Points are refunded.
- An L-Coin fee must be paid.
Refund Mode is ideal for:
- Correcting mistakes.
- Adjusting a specific branch.
- Making small build changes.
Chain Restrictions
Refund Mode must respect Talent progression chains.A Talent cannot be refunded while another active Talent depends on it.
Example: Talent A → Talent B → Talent C
Valid refund order: Talent C → Talent B → Talent A
Global Reset
Global Reset completely resets your active Talent configuration.
When used:
- All active Talents become inactive and returns to the Unlocked state.
- All invested Talent Points are refunded.
- An L-Coin fee must be paid.
Unlike Refund Mode, Global Reset uses a more efficient L-Coin cost ratio, making it the preferred option when rebuilding a large portion of your Talent build.
Reminder: Unlocked Talents remain permanently unlocked.
Additional Information
Talent Points are shared equally between Main Class and Dual Class.
However, Talent progression is tracked separately for each class.
This means:
- Main Class and Dual Class each have their own independent Talent Tree progression.
- Activations, and builds are managed separately per class.
- Progress on one class does not affect the other.
Build Your Own Path
The Talent System is designed around specialization and choice.
Some players may focus on offensive Talents.
Others may pursue defensive options.
Some may prefer hybrid paths that combine multiple playstyles.
Every Talent Point invested represents a meaningful decision, and choosing which Talents to activate will shape your character's identity and progression.
Plan carefully, experiment with different builds, and forge your own path through the Talent Tree.
